Scholastic Update: First Gold Portfolio Winner, 5 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Visions Medal

Lusher students have received 5 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal, and 1 Visions Medal at the national level of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.  

Creative Writing student Raven Little, Lusher’s first Gold Medal portfolio winner, received a Gold Medal for her senior portfolio, "In This One, The Black Boy Only Dies Once." There are only 16 Gold Medal recipients in the senior portfolio category, eight in writing and eight in art. The award comes with a $10,000 scholarship, and the recipients will  receive special recognition in June at the national Gold Medalists award ceremony. 

Media Arts student, Ellie Godbold, received a national Gold Medal and the National American Visions Medal for her work in film and animation.  

On the Visual Art front, Jude Mikulencak's painting "Temptation" took a Gold Medal, and and Charlotte Davenport won a Silver Medal for her painting.

In Creative Writing, Kai Chenevert received a Gold Medal in flash fiction, as did Eleanor Guichet, in humor. Brynn Beatty received a Silver Medal in flash fiction. 

These announcements follow on the heels of 46 Gold Keys, 87 Silver Keys, 7 Senior Portfolio winners, and 101 Honorable Mentions at the regional Scholastic level.
